SPAM filter : how ?
Posted by  Patrick Bauer  on Friday, September 26, 2003 at 11:44:05 AM (EST)
I have installed a LS2003 on a server behind an IPcop firewall. Runs really well but it dosen't filter SPAM out.
Using a couple users, each with a couple email accounts (on remote POP servers).
Tried to read all docs but didn find the answer...

How does it work? does it filter emails out directly, or mark thems with a chosen "topic" (what I did) and then we have to write a "rule" for each user ?

I read in LS2002 manual spam filter does NOT work if mail is collected from other POP3 servers (ISP's)
Is it still/also the case with LS2003?

I have activated a couple [FREE] and Spamcop too (used it free btw) but spam emails are not filtered

Otherwise LS2003 is an excellent solution, easy to deploy and sexy features
Thanks for your help
Cheers

I believe this is still the case with pop3 collected mail. The reason being is that the DNSBL lists block mail based on connection and if the mail is being collected via pop3, obviously there will only be one source..and that source can not be blocked or you will get NO mail.
