Faxing TIFF Image
Posted by  Maurice Laframboise  on Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at 4:37:02 PM (EST)
I'm faxing a TIFF document scan form a Network Scanner. The output goes on 3 pages at 200dpi and on 4 pages at 300dpi. Any idea why this is happening ?? When I open this TIFF with Imaging or any Tiff viewer it work fine.

Have a nice day.

Maurice

The tiff fax should be at a fixed res which is generated by the print driver normally at the correct res by sampling original data because a fax is not able to "resize", it is a bit for bit device. By sending a different a higher res directly, you fill up more space. Regular res is 200 dpi, high res is 400 I think, but only one way: transverse res if fixed at 196dpi.
Et felicitations pour ton nom Mr Laframboise... québécois?

Bon matin Serge, very cold in Montreal this morning -28 Celcius.

Because I'm using a Network Scanner the TIFF image is sent as an email attachement and the lower résolution I have is 2x2 dpi. Can I chose with OLE application the fax server will use to translate the attachement. I have Acrobat Reader install on the Fax server, but It's not in the list of OLE, even if I do search again. I can tell my Network Scanner to attach the Image as a PDF document.

Have a nice day.

Only -5 here, a kind of summer to you?
If yr tiff fax is encapsulated in a PDF file, it should have the correct size, just make sure the pdf extension is linked to acrobat and that the print option is defined in OLE stuff:
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe" /p /h "%1"
Sorry for the inaccuracy of words, I work with a french NT, so I am only guessing exact names...
