FTP connection & User folder size
Posted by  Loren Leung  on Thursday, November 21, 2002 at 2:04:29 AM (EST)
1). Can I control how many connections can make by one single username to the FTP server? because I don't want the user using multi-thread like flashget to download or leapFTP to upload.

2). Can I control the maximum size of the folder for each user to use?

Thanks for anyone can reply to these questions!

normally 1 for admin, no limit for others.
size control: no for FTP, yes for maiboxes, but you can disk quota if under NT2000 server.

Enable quota in disk properties.
Then the assigned limit will be "on"

my 2 cents...
if you are dealing with ftp thru IIS...good luck...enjoy the pain! ^)^ all of the issues you mention can be solved quickly and easily with Serv-U FTP Server plus give you some really nice added functionality. I have it running along side Lansuite on a small dedicated server with WinXP...it works great!!! Works fine on Win2000 as well. they have a 30-day free trial (www.serv-u.com). if you don't buy, after 30-days enterprise features are turned off.

But how did you get Serv-U FTP running next to LANSUITE 2002? I can't get it to work.

I used to be a SerU user, I agree, good software, almost as complete as WarFTP, but easier to setup.
To use another FTP server on same m/c as Lansuite, disable lansuite FTP server by unchecking FTP port 21 update in administration (available in local admin only, not web admin), then restart service or exe. Or run it on a different port than 21
