I cannot get the LNS Service started, I have tried manually starting it and rebooting. It starts and then stops. Nothing else is running on this server, this has just started after running all year with no problems.

Have you checked your logs? I had the same issue, but rebooting still works for me. We just had an awful couple of days. We are running Groupware on Server 2008. Once I updated Windows with all microsoft updates I can now stop and start the LNS server and it works. Is your server fully updated? My ISP had some DNS issues and now we are getting blasted by unauthorized users. We are not an open relay, but when the issue started I decided to open relay for a short time to see if that would fix the issue. Now I am getting 10000 tries an hour to my groupware server. The emails are being rejected, but I am worried about bandwidth. I am so frustrated with Groupware. The Email Server works GREAT but I am afraid of the day I have a problem that rebooting doesn't fix. Please let me know your outcome. We have been using this software since 2003 and it has performed almost flawlessly. Support was never that great, but at least we had support. What do us users do now? PRAY? I had had same kind of problem now for few weeks. I have Groupware Server version 6.0.09.0218 on Win 2003 Server with IIS. For the some reason the LNS Service just stops after every few days. It may run only one day, but may go well for more that a week. In the log file there is always just: 11:14:42 SRVR: ~ "Stuck connection" problem encountered, process will be recycled. 11:14:44 Program will now restart... 11:14:44 Server stopping That's all from the log. Between those first and last rows above it may receive and send still few emails. It does not start if I try to restart it with Gwconsole, but when I restart the whole server, it starts well and runs well for one or few days. What is could be? What do you have in the log?

Have you contacted Tech Support? I support over 100 users in 5 states. I couldn't handle waiting for the mail server to die just so I can restart it. I use the bucket email option and forward ALL emails going thru the system to this bucket address. I then use MS Outlook to download all the emails. If and/or when Groupware dies, at least I have all the emails. I worry about this every day. I can't believe I went against my own saying: "You will never get fired by recommending Microsoft" No matter what you think of Microsoft, their software works and their support is outstanding. There is a reason why it costs what it costs. Barry Kucher http://www.411tech.org

Well, ... it was one of the Microsoft operating system updates causing this failure. When I uninstalled few of them, it works fine again. As long as there is noting changing on "Microsoft side" of this Lansuite installation, it works well. And has been doing so for years now with different versions and on different hardware.

KB951847 and KB963032. But before you uninstall those, check out first if you have some files left in the folder c:\Program Files\Software602\602LAN SUITE 5 Groupware\io. The one of mine fails if there are some SPAM-mail files left in that folder or subfolder which the software can't handel. Run Server Console - Stop Groupware servises - delete unnessessary files from ..\io - Start Groupware services. I hope this helps for you and you don't need to uninstall those. I amd still not sure if uninstalling those was helpfull of deleting files from ..\io and subfolders of io.

Hi I had a lot of files in the "io" folder. I'm also using Groupware 6 and I moved the files out of the folder into another folder and restarted GW and the LNS service stayed up this time. I'm afraid that the files I've moved also include normal email. How do you differentiate emails marked as SPAM? Thanks for that tip by the way. You saved me a lot of hassle. I owe you a pint!

I just opened those files in the ..\io folder and it's subfolders one by one with notepad and checked which one could be real missing emails. So far I haven't find one from mine which could be realy missing email, but maybe some which are forwarded from mailbox to other one. All the rest of the files have been spam mails or attachents of them. Time by time there seems to come few emails which Groupware can not get out of the io-folder and then my server starts to fail. Ones in a month, two or three I then need to clean that folder.
