Bucket EMail Account
Posted by  Barry Kucher  on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 10:52:26 PM (EST)
One of the last features added to LS2004 was the bucket email account. This account, when activated allowed for ALL emails sent & received to be sent to this account.

We then used a machine with outlook 2003 to collect these emails. This was how we archived all emails sent and received by the company. We used it to monitor users email usage to make sure they conformed to company guidelines.

I can't seem to find this feature in GW6. I understand all emails are now archived, but it was very easy to monitor certain users using LS2004.

Is the Bucket EMail account available in GW6? If it is not explicitly included, has anyone figured out a kludge to add it?

No, this was removed when the archive was added.

So then how do we monitor users email activity. I understand the emails are archived, but how do administrators search all users email?

I can't seem to find access to the archive in the Administration of GW6.

When you are logged into the client, when you search the archive, you only see your own email activity, even if you have administrator access.

Wow...They must be listening to us. The bucket email option has been implemented in the latest version.

The bucket email checkbox is now in the administration of users email settings. Just place a checkmark in the box labeled
"Copy all incoming and outgoing messages to this user"

Then all emails going in and out of your server is sent this mailbox.

GREAT WORK DEVELOPERS.

I could not find such option in user administration.

I have the same requirement. A copy of all incoming and outgoing message coming to all users in Groupware should be forwarded to one account. Mails from this will be downloaded into Outlook.

Please advice.

Thanks

In the Groupware Admin go to the Users Panel. Either Create a new user or pick the user account you want to use.

Once you click on the user and their account info appears you will see 4 check boxes at the bottom of the page. The last checkbox is Copy all incoming and outgoing messages to this user. Select it and then press the save button. You are now done. All future emails will go to this account which can then be accessed by outlook for storage.

If you don't see this checkbox, you are NOT running the latest version of Groupware. Just install the latest version over your current install and you will have this feature.
