IIS Configuration for GW6
Posted by  Barry Kucher  on Friday, February 06, 2009 at 6:55:46 PM (EST)
We are having an issue using GW6 with IIS 7. Currently we are using the internal webserver because we have not been able to get it to work with IIS.

The main issue using the internal webserver is that some users did not see the left most column with the folder listings. By forcing SSL access, all users are currently able to connect.

We want to use IIS, but Groupware was not added as a website in IIS. We assumed it would be added automatically during the install, but that was not the case. We tried installing on another system with the same results.

We tried adding it manually but we have not gotten any positive results.

Can someone please give us instructions on how to add groupware to IIS. You would think the instructions would be in the manual, but the install manual did not have it.

Brandon from Support fixed the issue in 10 minutes. Support has been exceptional while we transition to GW6 from LS2004.

Still trying to get used to the new admin interface.

My users love the new web client (80% of my users use the web client), so I guess I am going to have to learn it.

We found another solution to our IIS issues. We originally used SSL to fix the problem, but SSL slows down data transfer and we have over 100 users, so we went looking for another solution.

It was so easy to fix. Our WEB Host allows us to forward requests to another site. For instance, my users type in:
www.ourmailserver.com and that forwards to our GW6 located on our server at www.ourhostname.com. We are able to mask this address so even though the users were being forwarded to www.ourhostname.com the user saw www.ourmailserver.com

Security built into IE7 and Firefox did not like this thinking we were a phishing site, which I totally understand.

Once we removed the masking feature in our forwarding, GW6 started working flawlessly. If anyone else is having this issue, this is how you fix it.
