I have a choice of using 2000, 2000 server, or XP for this project. Any suggestions?

seem no any problem for XP. However, I don't know whether because my PC spec. is too low, the log console look not synchronize with the real activity.

My PC spec. is 1.3G Celeron, 512MB RAM only.

I would pick 2000 server. I would not use 2000 or XP for more then 10 users. Limitations come from Microsoft. However important is CPU and memory. My suggestion is to use at least 2GHz machine, or betterm use dualcore CPU.

I went with 2000 server. Its a dual opteron with 2gb ram. seems to be running ok.

well, just a followup. Is anyone else experiencing a long delay when marking mail as junk?? I mark like 30 messages as junk and it takes about 5 minutes to clear them and move on. I'm using the web interface with IIS running it. The machine is plenty fast (dual opteron, 2gb ram, win2k server, nothing else on the machine). Anyone else noticing a slowdown?

after watching it, it seems the web interface is waiting for all tasks to complete before serving the next page, thus its very slow when doing things like marking a lot of junk mail. I think 2004 used to be like this but an update fixed it.

I tried it on my system with single core 2GHz machine and it took about 1 minute 30 seconds to classify 30 messages as junk. Of course it may also depends on how long the messages are, mine were short text messages. If your spam includes long messages it may take longer. Bayesian filter has to analyze content of each email to learn from it. Once it is learned you should not get more then few junk message, so this should not be problem. However the initial learning will consume some time. I do not archive junk messages, if you do, try to turn it off, it may speed it up.
