We have been getting bombarded by spam purporting to be sent by 'internal' users, i.e. from joker@domain.com to joker@domain. I was hoping to avoid this by using IP filter but apparently, this is restricted only for internal relaying to external messages. Is there any other way I could restrict external senders from sending messages to internal users while purporting to be an internal user?

Have you checked the box to verify sender by previous pop3 access? This should cut down on your spam because it will not let people use your stmp unless they have a valid login.

No, I was hoping to avoid that as that will slow down message sending. But if situation deteriorates, it might just be activated.
