LS 2004 is running on a WIN XP pc. On startup "Initializing Windows sockets" hangs for about 13 mins. During this I have internet Access and can ping outside servers. When LS is finally running, Internet is no longer working and ouside servers cannot be pinged (Names are no longer being resolved). The LanSuite screen shows "SMTP (time) Host "servername" not found (Winsock : The requested name is valid and was found in the database, but it does not have the correct associated data being resolved for.). I'm thinking of dumping the whole lot and going to Microsoft Exchange!- things are getting desperate! Silver lining - Incoming mails are arriving OK.

Do you have any firewall or anti-virus software installed? Have you tried rebuilding your TCP stack (delete the TCP/IP protocol from your network control panel, close the settings, reboot, then re-add it)? I don't think this is a problem with lan suite, but it a problem with either Windows or some application you have installed on your computer.

Thanks, I'll probably try rebuilding TCP/IP as suggested. Meanwhile I've got round the problem by entering the SMTP server's IP address instead of it's name. This has been working fine for a couple of days now, so I'm reluctant to interfere
