I've checked the KB article and SMTP server is enabled, the autodetection in the client correctly finds the server, NAV is disabled. No firewall.
The error still comes up. I'm able to telnet to port 25 on the server (ONLY when 602LS is running).
I'm running XP and 602LS 2004. Any ideas?

OK, found the problem:
I was sending using the default 602Pro Mail Client but it has to be sent via the SMTP 602SEND FAX.
