LDAP Not Available

I am running LanSuite 2004.0.05.0803 for incoming and outgoing mail. Sometimes the LDAP becomes unavailable, but Lansuite service still on. I can't find error message regarding LDAP in the daily log. What kind of keyword should I look for from the daily log? I usually just restart the Lansuite service in order to rectify the LDAP problem. How to restart LDAP ony without restart Lansuite? How to ensure the LDAP works all the time?
