DHCP not in range specified
Posted by  Prikshat Kaplish  on Wednesday, September 07, 2005 at 4:54:50 AM (EST)
I have some fixed IP addresses (e.g. 192.168.1.22) and I have set a DHCP range between 192.168.1.50 and 192.169.1.200.

But the IP addresses that Lansuite issues start with 169.*.*.*

Is there something else I should be setting?
(using the latest version)
regards

169.x.x.x is probably automatically assigned by Windows. Those addresses are assigned when the DHCP server can't be found. Try assigning a static IP address and see if you can ping the LS server. Make sure the LS server is on the same network segment as well, as DHCP requests aren't routable if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the reply Robert.

I have 7 or 8 PCs, a print server and wireless access point. All are currently with fixed IP.

Its now getting complicated as machines change and a couple of laptops come and go. So I thought why not switch over to DHCP (mixed with some fixed IP).

All machines work with fixed IP, so ping works too.

Are you saying that there is another DHCP server on the network somewhere?

Could be another dhcp server, you might want to check that. Also, try disabling any firewalls (including the one in LS) for the time being and see if that helps. Your switch might be a router, so it might have DHCP capabilities as well...
