DHCP and DNS
Posted by  Denys Firth  on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 1:39:49 AM (EST)
My internet connection (192.168.0.2)is via wired lan to a router (192.168.0.254). My network connection (which shares the internet connection using the proxy)is from my wireless card (192.168.1.1) to another ClientPC on its wireless card (they use peer to peer connection).
I have a good connection and if I manually input the IP, Gateway and ISP DNS information into the ClientPC I can access the internet via the proxy server just fine. If I use the DHCP server to set the ClientPC IP but NOT the DNS it works fine too. But if I use DHCP to set both IP and DNS I can get a peer to peer connection bewteen the PCs but no internet connection. It is inconvenient to have to set the DNS. Is there a way around this? Thanks
