SMTP error 452 when sending
Posted by  steve rogers  on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at 10:39:17 AM (EST)
I keep getting an SMTP error when sending to certain addresses but I know the mailbox is not full. The error seems to happen more when sending from the webmail interface than from sending from Outlook.

My log looks like:

Anybody have any idea? I talked to Bellsouth but the level of T/S I spoke with has no clue.

Thanks!

BTW, these are just "test" messages with no attachments. Less than 1K.

Without the log files from bellsouth, I couldn't tell you more than it's being rejected. It could be because you're on a DNS blacklist or a personal blacklist, something like that. All it's reporting is the message is being rejected.

Is it working to other domains? if it is, that would tell me lan suite is working fine, it's something with destination servers, not lan suite.

YEs, it's working fine for other sites. Here's another wrinkle - it seems to work OK if I'm sending out of Outlook or Thunderbird (any SMTP client) but fails when using the webmail interface, but again only for some sites. e.g., I can send fine to BellSouth from TBird, but not the webmail.

Hmm..maybe bellsouth is rejecting HTML e-mail or mail from the specific client?

Are you using LS2004 as your SMTP sever, or are you going through another SMTP server like your ISPs?
If you are using LS2004 as an SMTP server on a residential IP address certain ISPs filter them out.

Are your E-mail clients (Tbird) going through the same SMTP server?
If not, maybe that is why they are getting through.

Found this searching Google, talks about someone else getting 452 errors because their domain is on the SORBES blacklist:
