Problem with attachments
Posted by  Kevin Moore  on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 12:45:23 PM (EST)
Recently, after months of operating with no problems, some emails, notibaly emails with .pdf or .doc attachments, hang when outlook is downloading them off the server. I think they are getting corrupted. Even through the web interface when you try to save the attachment it hangs. What could cause this. I also have recently been seeing an occasional winsock error.

The problem will probably be solved when you address and fix the winsock error. What's the error?

SMTP: [3] Connection error (Winsock: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not repond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.). This is the most common error.

That's a timeout error. It means the communication is being severed or the client is going into a wait state when it shouldn't.

Do other attachments work fine, eg .gif, .jpg?

Any anti-virus software installed on the server or clients?

One email today hung on a .jpg file. All clients and server are running CA eTrust 7.01.
