Spam - bogus address to domain
Posted by  Jon Eberle  on Thursday, October 07, 2004 at 9:04:33 AM (EST)
I am getting a ton of email "returned" "failure" or "undeliverable" sent back to my domains. They are sent from users that do not exist. I have unchecked \setup\user\route unsorted messages to this user. - catch all. Is someone using my SMTP server to spam people. Is this an unavoidable problem?

I get this a lot too. This is caused by viruses using a bogus return address. Nothing to worry about, really, you're probably not infected.

You could train the bayesian filter to block these types of messages, but this might also block legitimate bounces, so you'd need to be careful. I just delete them.
