IP Filtering! ARGH!
Posted by  Dave Knight  on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at 3:49:50 PM (EST)
Geez! ... I'm kinda new to networking and got lansuite to get my network on the net.

My sister likes to use mirc but can i get it to work?!?! Hell no! Something to do with open proxy.

I assume this is something to do with the ip filter tab?

My set up is:

Server on a cable connection, all computers are connected through a hub.

I am using 169.254.101.*** as my ip range.

Server is 169.254.101.1
comp1 is 169.254.101.2
comp2 is 169.254.101.3
comp3 is 169.254.101.4

It has nothing to do with the IP filter tab, Proxies mask your IP address so it is difficult for MIRC servers to track you, therefore they will not allow anyone with a masked IP to access.
The only solution for this is to use a NAT type software to share you internet connection, Internet connection sharing is one such software and is included with Windows ME/2000/XP and can be downloaded for Win98 SE.
