No Video/Audio with Msn Messenger/netmeeting
Posted by  Anthony Luxton  on Sunday, April 11, 2004 at 7:19:43 PM (EST)
I am running LS2003, and it works perfectly. However recently I tried using audio and video with microsoft messenger and it didnt work. I tried opening mapped links to no avail, and even resorted to downloading every other chat client I could find.
Could Anyone tell me how I can get messengers audio and video to work.
Thanks

I would recommend upgrading to LS 2004, which includes NAT. This will probably fix this problem.

NAT will fix most of the problems, but you cannot recieve inbound calls to internal clients unless you map to it. H323 programs all suffer the same problems. They use dynamic ports and are not firewall/proxy friendly.

I use a program from http://www.bearware.dk called TeamTalk. This program is very Firewall/Proxy friendly and works in every situation I throw at it. It supports a feature call 'Forward thru Server'. This allows internal clients to talk/receive and only requires 2 ports.
