Web Cams & Mics
Posted by  Dean Jones  on Saturday, February 14, 2004 at 1:49:01 PM (EST)
This question has been asked before but with no replies. I am using MS Messenger ok with the 'socks 5' settings. However, my webcam & mic do not work. End users accepted the request but the sessions ends with no reason. Any help

MS Netmeeting & Messenger use dynamic ports from 1024 upwards. this means a firewall must accept connections on those ports.
Due to the opening of so many ports, mapping to a client behind the proxy is not an option.
It is possible to run Messenger/Nemeeting on the LS Server as long as the needed ports are open thru the firewall. ( 1024-65535 ).

'TeamTalk2' is an excellent app for voice conferencing that is proxy client freindly. It supports multi-party voice calls, but no video. It only requires 2 ports and for those behind routers and proxies, the calls can be forwarded thru the host (default setting). The best way to describe this app is 'an internet version of a CB radio'.
