POP3 Connection error
Posted by  John Dobson  on Monday, January 05, 2004 at 7:55:29 PM (EST)
I recently began having problems with the POP3 server. When a large number of email messages are delivered to an Outlook client at a workstation the server hangs with the message: Connection error: (Winsock: An exisiting connection was forcibly clsed by the remote host.) I'm running Lansuite as a proxy and email server and using Microsoft webserver so I changed port 80 to 8010. The outside internet connection to the server seems to continue to function, but the local network connection freezes. Any ideas?

Thanks.

In my experience, winsock errors during large transfers are usually caused by transmission errors due to bad cables, connectors or network cards/drivers. Does this happen on all computers or just a few? Are you using a hub or a switch? How many computers are accessing Lan suite at the time it happens?
