Topic is Open For the last week or so (ever since the outbreak of the Novarg/MyDoom virus), I appear to be under some sort of attack. Most recently, there have been numerous attempts to use my SMTP server under various fake names attached to my domain name. For example, here are a couple of lines from my log:

12:36:08 PM SMTP: [2] SMTP connection to 'ip112.usw145.dsl-acs2.sea.iinet.com' established.
12:36:16 PM SMTP: [2] Rejecting message from for joe@[my domain name].com: No such user here
12:36:16 PM SMTP: [2] SMTP connection to 'ip112.usw145.dsl-acs2.sea.iinet.com' properly terminated.

This happens every few minutes, except that joe changes to a different name each time, as does the name of the connected computer. At some point they are going to hit on a valid address.

Note the blank after Rejecting message from . . . Previously there was an IP address there, but I blocked it and also notified the administrator for that address. Now it's blank.

Is there a setting I can implement to improve security? Any other recommendations?

Thanks,

Doug

Topic is Open Seems certain ISP's don't like my LS 2003 sending my clients their monthly newsletter. I receive this message from them along with suggestions to block my dynamic IP.
(550 Dynamic IPs/open relays blocked)
The reason I use LS 2003 is to get around Comcasts 50 e-mail sending limit at a time, (It's a pain to sit around and set up and send 30 distribution lists!) Is there a way to set up LS 2003 to make me look like the nice guy I am or will I always be labeled a spammer ? Spamming Accusations!!!

Topic is Open I had this problem with Lan Suite 2002 so I upgraded to 2003 and the problem persists.

Lan Suite runs fine, but if I try to view the configuration settings by clicking 'Settings' 'Advanced Configuration' it freezes up after two blocks in the status bar.

Trying the configuration wizard causes an instant freeze up. The only recourse in either case is to CTRL-ALT-DEL, and 'end task' Lansuite even though it doesn't initially indicate its 'not responding'.

Has anyone else encountered this and if so, how did you resolve the problem?

Thanks,

Don Cant access Configuration settings

Topic is Open I am trying to get LS to automatically put a '9' in front of every fax number it dials (I.E. the fax modem is attached to our company's exchange). Anybody know how this can be done without resorting to altering the fax numbers in our Corporate address book in Outlook ?

Topic is Open Does anyone know if the fax server in LAN SUITE 2003 supports distinctive ring features? I have a second number on my single line that I would like to use as the fax number. Since it has a double ring when that number is used, I'd like for the fax server to only answer on the 'double ring' -- allowing the normal one ring calls to be answered by humans.

Thanks! Distinctive Ring Answer for FAX Server

Topic is Open I'm considering setting up LanSuite 2003 as my fax server. Could anyone tell me if LanSuite supports multiple fax modems? That is will LanSuite take advantage of multiple fax modems by using them simultaneously? One other question, emailed faxes with attachments... if the attachment is the same for all emails is there a way to set up LanSuite to render the attachment to fax format only once? Or does it have to render each email/attachment as a single entity? Thanks for any help Fax Server
