Topic is Open I have 2 users, user 1 and user 2, on a local network with 602 LANSuite running as an email server. The IP addresses of the 3 machines are 192.168.1.11(user 1 - DHCP allocated), 192.168.1.12 (user 2 - DHCP allocated) and 192.168.1.200 (server on fixed address). My email server connects to my ISP via a Draytek router (on IP address 192.168.1.1). It tells me that my WAN address is, let's say, a.b.c.d. This setup works fine.

What I want to be able to do is for user 1 to be able to access his emails when he is not at base, via the internet somehow. Obviously he can;t use address 192.168.1.200 to access the server. SO presumably there needs to be some NAT translation or something similar? I haven't managed to figure out how to do this. I assume it's fairly easy, but don't know quite how to start.

I'd appreciate any ideas (in simple terms)?

Regards

Topic is Open Hi,

I can't manage to get a mapped NTP on the Proxy.

I've added the following rule, but it doesn't seem to work:

UDP 192.168.16.1 / 255.255.255.0 192.168.16.94:123 time.windows.com:123

Thanks in advance

Topic is Open Is it possible to turn off the LS2004 automatic delivery receipt function? So far, I have been unable to find it.

I am finding that it is sending a requested delivery receipt to spam mail. Of course the receipt address is forged so I am getting error messages returned... It could also confirm my address to the spammers :-(

Many thanks,

Topic is Open I am using the DNSBL services under anti-spam, but would like a custom local list to block IP addresses collected from junk emails. (Ideal would be a blacklist in LanSuite to add IPs and IP ranges similar to the relay filter.)

Topic is Open G'day,

I'm unable to transfer files to a remote server if the firewall in LanSuite 2004 is enabled, but can do so if it is turned off.

LAN consists of 1 PC running LS2004 and 1 attached client. Both PCs are running WinXP, using static IPs (192.186.X.X.). Static IP for the client Pc has been entered in the IP filters, and the client PC can browse the internet, receive mail etc. without a problem. LanSuite firewall is configured as MEDIUM. FTP client is Leech FTP, and has been configured as per instructions on this site. Client PC is able to connect to the remote server, but times out when performing the initial LIST command on the remote site.

If the LS firewall is turned off, I am able to connect and transfer files normally.

I have tried several other FTP clients, including WS and SmartFTP. Both terminate with the same error.

Any ideas?

Topic is Open Has anyone managed to configure the outgoing mail to be via 'gmail'?
According to gmail's help pages, the settings (for Outlook Express)are:

1 Enter your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com) in the 'Email address:' field, and click 'Next.'
2 Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:' field.
3 Click 'Next.'
4 Enter your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com') in the 'POP3 Account name:' field. Enter your Gmail password in the 'Password:' field, and click 'Next.'
5 Click 'Finish.'
6 Highlight 'pop.gmail.com' under 'Account,' and click 'Properties.'
7 Click the 'Advanced' tab.
8 Check the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' under 'Outgoing Mail (SMTP).'
9 Enter '465' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP):' field.
10 re POP3......
11 Click the 'Servers' tab, and check the box next to 'My server requires authentication.'
12 Click 'OK.'

but I can't get a connection, but a 'SSL layer initialisation failed'. It works in Outlook Express okay. gmail SMTP

Topic is Open I am running LS 2004 on W2k Server. Sometimes the server crashes an reboots when a user on the LAN tries to pick its e-mail with POP3. The only solution is to delete some message on the LS server, either with webmail or manually by manually removing the corresponding file in the LS servers filesystem.
My experience is that this behaviour is associated to exactly some specific e-mails. All other e-mails can be transferred to the client and the reboot behaviour is reproducible with the bad e-mails (i checked this by manually copying the corresponding files in the mbox on the LS server and transferring them several times).
I read in the forum that this behaviour has already occured with LS 2002 and the assumption was that it is linked to the NIC you are using to connect the client to the LS server. Indded did I change the NIC recently and I didn't have this problem before. On the other hand the NIC is working perfectly in all other cases so it must at least be the combination of NIC and LS POP3 and some special e-mail property.
Has anybody experienced this problem, too and are there any solutions available?
Any help is highly appreciated. LS crashes server reboots when picking POP3 e-mail
